Episode 178 - Lucy Bartholomew 2022

Lucy Bartholomew smiling as she climbs over rocks.

Lucy Bartholomew talks epic mountain missions on DCR this week.

Kia Ora e te whānau. This week Matt has the pleasure of another conversation with returning guest Lucy Bartholomew. We last spoke with Lucy in 2018, after she’d placed third at Western States. Lucy was full of passion for running, the outdoors, and eating plant-based food. It feels weird to be calling someone “an old head” at 25, but Lucy has been running endurance events since she was 15 and has the perspective to back this up. The last three years have surely pushed up some challenges - some global and some personal. Lucy discusses her evolving relationship with social media, and the place it plays in the culture. We discuss how the pandemic has enabled Lucy to take a well-earned break from a punishing travel schedule, and take some time to show people that there is a human being behind the instagram posts. The love of epic missions, plant-based food, and the community is so evident in this wonderful conversation. Enjoy!
